Denis Carroll


Denis Carroll is a qualified electronics engineer with national and international consultancy experience in communications, healthcare information systems and computing.

He is head of Knowledge Transfer Partnership Unit, University of Westmisnter, current activities include working with intermediary organisations, facilitating/brokering technology transfer in the areas of computer science, finance/management, bioscience, complementary healthcare and the setting up of spin-out companies. And he is project manager within the Health & Social Care Modelling Group. The contract value of these activities is over £1.3 million in the last 6 years.

Principle specialist area is healthcare ICT working within NHS Trust hospitals (acute and community) and primary care groups. He is currently a member of IEE, IEEE, CMI and joint author of "Time for a new approach to natural medicines risk management", Journal for Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 2003. During 2002 he was seconded to NHS as project manager of £1.2m to create a digital interactive television pilot running over Sky's infrastructure and is NHS approved via Centre for Health Information Quality for the dissemination of patient care information.
