Michael L. Popovich
Mr. Popovich is founder and President/CEO of Scientific Technologies Corporation a public health professional services and informatics company with offices throughout the U.S. Mr. Popovich graduated in 1973 with a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Arizona and with a B.S. in Engineering Mathematics and a minor in Physics. He has been listed in Who's Who Worldwide Platinum edition, received numerous awards, authored over 120 articles and papers and is a regular invited guest speaker at national conferences.
His vision is to advance public health practice through information technology. He has become a leading specialist in strategic planning and in implementing successful public health information systems, notably, emergency preparedness through integration of systems for early warning, disease reporting and population based registries. He has developed and implemented risk assessment models using GIS and public health programmatic data sources as well as developed strategies for public health practitioners to collaborate with private health professionals to increase information sharing. His public health work with local, state, national and international organizations includes projects for maternal and child health, communicable and chronic diseases, school and behavioral health. He has been an invited expert at the Centers of Disease Prevention to identify standards for vaccine preventable tracking systems as well as provided expertise to non-profit public health organizations such as RWJ/All Kids Count and the Flinn Foundation.
His past experience includes such diverse projects as development of satellite simulation and electronic warfare modeling for the U.S. Air Force to design of environmental health tracking systems for the Bermuda Ministry of Health. He has designed, developed and applied computer models to simulate air, noise and water pollution for planning transit and transportation projects as well as serving the onsite software engineer in Central America developing economic and transpiration forecasting systems for the Nicaraguan Government.
Scientific Technologies Corporation provides public health services to Ministries of Health, Departments of Health, Non-profit health organizations as well as the private sector. Example international clients include Bermuda, Guam and Senegal, national client examples include CDC and the Department of Interior, local and state public health clients include New York City and Houston as well as many of the U.S. State DOH organizations from New Hampshire to Oregon.
